WHY BOXING?
Why Boxing for Parkinson’s?
01
Mission
We provide non-contact boxing and movement-based workouts for individuals living with Parkinson's disease in the South Bay. Our program improves balance, confidence, coordination, and quality of life through regular community-based exercise
02
Improves Motor Skills, Balance, and Stability
Boxing involves fast, repetitive movements and dynamic weight shifts that enhance hand-eye coordination, fine motor skills, posture, and stability—helping reduce the risk of falls and address common motor impairments associated with Parkinson’s.
03
Boosts Cardiovascular Health
Parkinson’s can lead to fatigue and decreased endurance. Boxing is an intense cardio workout that strengthens the heart and improves overall stamina.
04
Promotes Neuroplasticity
The brain’s ability to form new neural connections is crucial in managing Parkinson’s symptoms. Complex movements and coordination in boxing stimulate the brain, potentially slowing symptom progression.
05
Increases Strength and Flexibility
The physical demands of boxing build muscle strength, improve joint flexibility, and help counteract the rigidity associated with Parkinson’s.
